Although QuickBooks allows user to make changes after the transaction has been saved, there is an Audit Trail report, which track all the changes made in the transaction.
The Audit Trail report is under the Accountant and Taxes section of the Report menu.
Audit Trail report will show the prior transaction(s) and the latest transaction with the changes made in bold and italic font type. You can see who has made the changes (Last modified by) and the date and time modified (Entered/Last Modified).
Besides setting a Closing Date with a Password to prevent a user from amending the transaction, Audit Trail is one of the fraud protection system in QuickBooks accounting software which helps the Auditor trace the integrity of the account.
